HTC Titan Windows Phone Review

Thumbnail

Posted on Windows 7 News & Tips When HTC announced their new Titan Windows Phone, complete with a 4.7 inch screen I was sceptical.  Let’s face it, Dell’s 5 inch touch device is officially marketed as a tablet.  Surely this would mean that the Titan would be far too big to use as a phone, and far too big to slip into the average pocket?  I had to find out for myself so I asked HTC to send me a handset to try. It really is a beast, at 131.5mm x 70.7mm x 9.9mm it’s the largest phone I’ve used.  That 9.9mm thickness though does make a lot of difference and its slim profile adds a certain desirability and sleekness to an otherwise oversized device.  The buttons on the outside are all low-profile, this makes the power button tricky to hit sometimes, and the back, start and search buttons are pushed right down to the bottom of the handset to accommodate that huge screen.  This however is where they should be. HTC say the Titan is “Unlike anything you’ve ever held before” and they’re not wrong.  It’s disconcerting at first because of its sheer size and this can make wrapping your hand around it difficult.  It’s not too hard to grab securely though and, while you might feel a little self-conscious at first holding it to your ear, you’ll soon get used to it.
