GmapCatcher is another offline maps viewer that supports not only Google Maps but also Cloud Made and Open Street Map.

ATI Adds Laptop Support to Catalyst 10.3 Drivers

AMD and ATI today released the Catalyst 10.3 driver package for download. By itself, this is unremarkable – ATI drops new graphics card drivers once a month, and while they normally bring a host of small fixes, performance improvements and tweaks, they’re rarely more noteworthy than that.

Hacker Breaks Into Windows 7 Using IE 8 in 2 Minutes

Yesterday, two researchers at the Pwn2Own hacking contest walked away with a nice sum of $10,000 each after they managed to bypass important security features in Windows 7. Both Peter Vreugdenhil of the Netherlands and a German researcher who only would give his first name of Nils, managed to find ways to disable DEP (data execution prevention) and ASLR (address space layout randomization) in Windows 7. Two features that have been well publicized in Windows 7’s anti-exploit features.

How to Reboot on Multiple OS Selections

Even though I have Windows7 installed on my machine, in the classroom where I teach, I have the need to use Windows XP for some operations that Windows7 can’t perform. In my situation, I have Server 2008 virtual machines that won’t run on Windows 7, but they will run on Windows XP. I have created a dual boot partition with Windows7 and WinXP for those occasions if in need to use one operating system vs another.
