Microsoft dodges class action in WGA lawsuit

A lawsuit that accused Microsoft of misleading consumers to download and install an update for Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) under the guise that it was critical security update will go forward, but not as a class action. A federal judge has refused to certify the lawsuit as a class action, which would have meant anyone who owned a Windows XP PC in mid-2006 could join the case without having to hire an attorney.

Will “The Hit” that is Windows 7 Translate to WinMo 7?

Most everyone has probably heard the saying that “history always repeats itself” and I’m sure that Microsoft hopes the old adage is true, because their next Windows Mobile operating system is reportedly being called “seven’, sound familiar? With the “homeruns” that are Windows 7 and the updated Zune software, it sounds as if Microsoft is ready to cash in on another lucky number seven.  Last week, we received notice that Microsoft’s new Mobile OS would be delayed until 2011. Since then, several reports have Microsoft possibly making a new Mobile OS announcement in the Mobile World Congress conference being held next month in Barcelona.

Folder Position Saver [Windows 7]

Especially users with multi-monitor systems have noticed a change in Windows Explorer of Microsoft’s new operating system Windows 7 that has a severe impact on their workflow. Windows 7 does not store individual folder positions unlike previous Microsoft operating systems that could be configured to save folder positions and sizes. The option to “Remember each folder’s view settings” has been removed from Windows Explorer which is a problem for some Windows 7 users.

Apple may dump Google for Bing in iPhone search

Apple is reportedly in negotiations with Microsoft to replace the default search engine in mobile Safari on the iPhone with Bing. Those negotiations may even result in Bing being added as one of the search engine options for the desktop version of Safari, according to a report by BusinessWeek . Google is the current default on both platforms—and would likely remain a user option—though increasing contention between Apple and Google may be the reason behind a possible switch.
